Canada played their first of two fixtures in the October international window against Brazil. It ended in a 1-0 loss for the Canadians, as Debinha’s additional-time shot deflected off both Kadeisha Buchanan and Vanessa Gilles past Kailen Sheridan into the back of the net. The match was not a fantastic one for Canada as the team struggled to use its new formation against a top-ten team. Hopefully, their outing on the 31st will show some improvement, and perhaps we’ll see different substitutes as players look to push for an Olympic spot.
Stats of note:
- It was Cloé Lacasse’s 25th appearance for Canada.
- It was Jordyn Huitema’s 70th appearance for Canada.
NCAA

Other than the international fixture, we had Canadians playing at the collegiate level. USC had two games this week. Firstly, they drew 0-0 with Stanford. Simi Awujo played the entire match and had one shot on goal. In their second match, USC managed a 2-0 against the California Golden Bears. Awujo featured for 78 minutes in that match. Ella Ottey and the Wisconsin Badgers had a big match the Big Ten Tournament quarter-final. Ottey played the entire match, which ended in a 0-0 draw after overtime. Wisconsin won the match against Rutgers 4-1 on penalty kicks. Next, Wisconsin will move on to face Nebraska in the semi-finals.
