Australia

Lysianne Proulx was in net for Melbourne City as they won 3-2 over the Newcastle Jets, a win that has City in second place in the A-League table. 

Denmark

In their first match of the week, Emma Regan started for HB Køge in their 0-2 loss to Brøndby IF. Despite being included in the squad for their second match, Regan was not available for selection in HB Køge’s 2-0 win over Kolding IF.

England

Ashley Lawrence and Jessie Fleming both made appearances off the bench for Chelsea in their 5-1 win over Liverpool. Kadeisha Buchanan was once again on the bench, leaving fans to wonder if she is injured, or has just fallen down Emma Hayes’ pecking order. For Arsenal, Sabrina D’Angelo was unavailable due to personal reasons, but Cloé Lacasse came off the bench and earned an assist in the Gunners’ 3-0 win over Brighton. Unfortunately, Deanne Rose is once again injured and was not available for selection for Leicester City in their match against Tottenham. Shelina Zadorsky made the bench for the Spurs but did not see the pitch as they drew Leicester 1-1.

It was a match of two extremes for Adriana Leon in Aston Villa’s outing against West Ham. Leon conceded the penalty that gave West Ham the lead, and later scored a goal, only to be called offside. In the second half, Leon scored her first goal for Aston Villa, helping them to a 3-2 victory over her former side. Lastly, Jayde Riviere played the second half for Manchester United in their 1-3 loss to Manchester City. 

France

Vanessa Gilles had the start and played the full match for Lyon in a convincing 4-1 win over Dijon. Marie Levasseur entered in the 69th match for Montpellier and helped them secure a 2-1 win over Reims.

Italy

Evelyne Viens played 74 minutes for Roma in their 2-0 win over Sassuolo. Julia Grosso played 69 minutes and scored a goal for Juventus in their 5-0 win over Inter. The Canadians remain first and second in the Serie A table, respectively.

NCAA

All of the Canadians in the NCAA who have been called up to the senior team in the past year were eliminated from the NCAA Championship Tournament this week. Jade Rose started the match for Harvard, who lost 0-1 to Michigan State. Simi Awujo played the full match for USC in another narrow loss—0-1—to Brigham Young. Finally, Ella Ottey earned the start for Wisconsin as they lost 1-2 to the Texas Longhorns.

Portugal

Off the back of an impressive performance last week, Olivia Smith earned the start for Sporting CP. Smith earned an assist in her team’s 4-0 win over Famalicão. Marie Alidou also started for Benfica in their 1-0 win over Braga.

UWCL

This week, UWCL group stage action kicked off. Alidou played 65 minutes for Benfica in their 0-5 loss to Barcelona. Gilles had an incredible performance for Lyon, scoring two goals and earning Player of the Match honours in their 9-0 win over Slavia Praha. Viens had one goal and an instrumental role in Roma’s equalizer in their 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich. Clarissa Larisey was ruled out of action for BK Häcken thanks to her injury; in her absence, Häcken secured a 2-1 win over Paris FC. Fleming and Lawrence both played the full match for Chelsea in a 2-2 draw with Real Madrid. Lawrence earned an assist on Chelsea’s first goal. Fleming, unfortunately, conceded the controversial penalty that led to Real Madrid’s equalizer.
