SheBelieves Cup Roster Drop
Bev Priestman released her roster for the upcoming SheBelieves Cup. Jayde Riviere and Sydney Collins again missed out due to injury. In good news, Janine Beckie and Desiree Scott are making their return to a full roster for the Canadian team since their respective injuries.
It has been a full calendar year since Amanda Allen and Sura Yekka have been called up to the senior team. As such, we are pausing coverage on them until they’re called up again.
UWCL
This week, the second half of the UWCL QFs took place. Marie Alidou started for Benfica and scored a goal for her team, but the effort wasn’t enough as Vanessa Gilles’ Lyon went on to win 4-1 (6-2 agg.). Gilles played the full match for Lyon. Chelsea only managed to draw Ajax 1-1; their first leg win helped them advance 4-1 on aggregate. Kadeisha Buchanan played 66 minutes for the Blues, whilst Ashley Lawrence played the full match. Lastly, Clarissa Larisey and BK Häcken’s UWCL hopes ended courtesy of a 3-0 loss to PSG. Larisey entered as a substitute in the 65th minute.
Denmark
Emma Regan started for HB Køge in their 1-1 draw with Kolding IF.
England
Aston Villa and Leicester City played to a 2-2 draw, with a Canadian on either side of the pitch. Adriana Leon started and scored Villa’s first goal; Deanne Rose played 84 minutes for the Foxes. Jayde Riviere remained unavailable for Manchester United in their 4-1 win over Everton. Shelina Zadorsky played the full match for West Ham in their 0-0 draw with Brighton.

In the Conti Cup final, it was Arsenal’s Canadian duo of Sabrina D’Angelo and Cloé Lacasse against Chelsea’s Buchanan and Lawrence. Arsenal scored in extra-time to win the match 1-0. Lacasse started and played 72 minutes whilst D’Angelo served as backup keeper. For Chelsea, Buchanan played the entire match and Lawrence remained on the bench.
France
Latifah Abdu was unavailable for Dijon in their 3-0 loss to PSG. Gilles entered at half-time for Lyon in their 3-0 win over Le Havre.
Italy
The Serie A Femminile Championship Group Round continued. Evelyne Viens played 65 minutes for Roma in their 2-1 win over Inter. Julia Grosso started for Juventus and scored their first goal in a dominating 4-0 win over Fiorentina.
Portugal
Benfica and Sporting CP faced off in the first semi-final leg of the Taça de Portugal de Futebol Feminino. Alidou played 78 minutes for Benfica and Olivia Smith played 69 for Sporting. In the end, Benfica won 1-0.
Sweden
Knocked out of the Svenska Cupen, Sura Yekka and Djurgården played a club friendly against Uppsala. Yekka started in the 3-1 win. In the Svenska Cupen semi-final, Larisey and BK Häcken won a thrilling match on penalties. Larisey entered in the 62nd minute and converted Häcken’s final penalty kick.

USA
Amanda Allen entered in stoppage time for the Orlando Pride in their 1-1 draw with Chicago. Kailen Sheridan and the San Diego Wave got their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Seattle Reign. Jordyn Huitema played the full match for Seattle, whereas Quinn was unavailable due to concussion protocol.
Desiree Scott played her first match for Kansas City since the 2022 NWSL final, entering in second-half stoppage time to thunderous applause. Her cameo came at the end of a 4-2 win over Angel City. Nichelle Prince remained out with injury. On the other bench, Megan Reid was an unused substitute.

Bianca St-Georges played 74 minutes for North Carolina in their 1-0 win over Gotham. Sydney Collins remains unavailable due to her ankle injury. The Portland Thorns continued their lackluster start to the season with a 2-2 come-from-behind draw with Racing Louisville. Jessie Fleming and Janine Beckie started the match and were subbed out in the 78th and 65th minutes respectively. Christine Sinclair entered as a substitute in the 78th minute.
In Bay FC’s home-opener, Lysianne Proulx had the start in goal. Despite making a penalty save, the Bay lost 3-2 to the Houston Dash. Sophie Schmidt played the full match for the Dash. Finally, Gabrielle Carle played the full match for Washington in a 2-1 win over Utah.
