Canada – League 1
In League 1 Ontario, Annabelle Chukwu came off the bench in the 63rd minute for NDC Ontario in their 2-1 win over North Mississauga SC. In League 1 BC, Jeneva Hernandez-Gray scored a hat trick for Vancouver Whitecaps FC Academy in their 7-0 win over TSS Rovers.
Denmark – Kvindeligaen
Emma Regan played the full match for HB Køge in their 1-0 loss against FC Nordsjælland.
England –WSL
There were many storylines at play this week in the WSL. Chelsea lost their mid-week fixture against Liverpool 4-3, seemingly opening the door for Manchester City to win the title. In the loss, Kadeisha Buchanan was an unused substitute and Ashley Lawrence earned the start, playing 67 minutes.
Adriana Leon entered in the 65th minute for Aston Villa in their 1-0 win over Brighton as they look to end their season on a high note after a disappointing first half of the season. In a welcome sight for Canadians, Jayde Riviere returned to the pitch for Manchester United, entering in the 59th minute in a 1-0 loss to Liverpool. This was Riviere’s first time on the pitch since sustaining an injury in late March.

Manchester City looked to be cruising to a league victory until Arsenal played spoiler with a late come-from-behind 2-1 victory. Sabrina D’Angelo served as backup keeper for the Gunners, and Cloé Lacasse played 62 minutes. Lacasse earned her fifth yellow card of the season, meaning she will miss out on Arsenal’s last game of the season.
In a final twist to the title race, Chelsea erased the goal differential between them and Manchester City, winning 8-0 over last-place Bristol City. Buchanan did not feature for the Blues, and Lawrence entered in 90+2.
West Ham and Leicester City played to a 1-1 draw. Shelina Zadorsky entered in injury time at the end of the match, whereas Deanne Rose was unavailable due to illness for the Foxes.
Italy –Serie A Femminile Championship Group Rounds
There were three games for our Canadians this week in the Serie A Femminile Championship Group Rounds: two for Évelyne Viens and Roma, and one for Julia Grosso and Juventus. After clinching the league title last week, Viens and Roma won their two games this week by narrow margins. Viens proved vital for Roma in both matches, notching three goals and three assists across 180 minutes played. In the first match against Sassuolo, Viens had three assists and a goal in Roma’s 6-5 win. Later, against Inter, Viens scored twice more to help Roma win 4-3.
On Monday, Juventus played Fiorentina and won 2-0. Grosso was an unused substitute.
Portugal – Cup Final and Liga BPI
Once again, Marie Alidou and Olivia Smith faced off for hardware in the Taça da Liga Feminina final. Both Canadians started for Benfica and Sporting respectively, with Alidou playing 82 minutes and Smith going the full 90. In the end, Benfica and Alidou won the cup by a narrow score of 1-0.

In regular league play, Melissa Dagenais served as backup keeper for Damaiense in their 2-1 win over Braga. Benfica won 1-0 over Valadares; Alidou entered in the 72nd minute for the league leaders. Continuing her good form, Olivia Smith scored another goal for Sporting CP in their 3-0 victory over Ouriense.
Sweden – Cup Final and Damallsvenskan
Clarissa Larisey started for BK Häcken in the Svenska Cupen final, playing 78 minutes. Unfortunately for BK Häcken, they lost 1-0 thanks to a 90+ penalty scored by Piteå.
In their league match, Larisey once again earned the start, playing 81 minutes in a 2-0 win over Brommapojkarna.
USA – NWSL
Multiple teams played double fixtures this week as the NWSL schedule ramped up. Firstly, the North Carolina Courage lost 4-1 to the Orlando Pride. Sydney Collins remained on the Courage’s D-45 injury list, whereas St-Georges entered in the 58th minute. Gabby Carle played the full match for Washington in their 4-2 win against Chicago. In their mid-week fixture, Portland continued its winning ways with a 3-2 win over the Bay. Janine Beckie started for the Thorns, playing 75 minutes, whilst Christine Sinclair was an unused substitute. Due to injury, Jessie Fleming was unavailable. For the Bay, Lysianne Proulx was in goal.
Megan Reid played the full match for Angel City in their 2-1 win against Utah. Unfortunately for Canadians, Jordyn Huitema and Quinn were both unavailable due to injury for the Reign in their 2-1 win over San Diego. Kailen Sheridan was in net for the Wave.
The Courage lost again over the weekend, albeit by a narrower margin of 1-0. St-Georges played the first half for the Courage in the loss to Gotham FC. Portland earned its fourth win in a row with a 2-1 win over Washington. All three Canadians for Portland—Sinclair, Beckie, and Fleming—started and were subbed off in the 60th minute. Sinclair scored the game-winner for Portland. On the other side, Carle played the full match for Washington.
The match between Kansas City and the Houston Dash had a lengthy weather delay and out of four CanXNT recent call-ups, none saw the pitch. Nichelle Prince was available off the bench for the first time for Kansas City, but did not feature against her former team. Desiree Scott was once again left out of KCC’s squad despite not being listed on their injury report, and Sophie Schmidt and Allysha Chapman were both unavailable for the Dash. Lastly, Proulx was backup keeper for the Bay in their 2-1 loss to Chicago.
