Vanessa Gilles was not in the game day squad for Lyon’s last regular season game Wednesday. This was likely due to rest, and not cause for concern, as Lyon played the Div 1 Semi-final on Sunday May 12th. Lyon would suffer their first loss of the season, falling 2-1 to Bordeaux.

Latifah Abdu was an unused substitute for Dijon in their final game of the season. Dijon would win 1-0 against Paris FC and finish 8th in the standings.

On Sunday, Vanessa Gilles was back with Lyon playing the full 90 in their 6-0 win over Reims in the Div 1 semi-final. Lyon will face PSG on May 17th in the final.

On Wednesday, Clarissa Larisey had the start and scored the third goal for BK Häcken in their 3-0 win against Växjö. On Monday, Larisey had the start and played 72 minutes in their 2-0 loss against Rosengård.

SERIE A

Julia Grosso’s Juventus defeated Evelyne Viens’ Roma 3-1 on Monday. Grosso had the start for Juventus, playing 63 minutes. For Roma, Viens had the start and played the full game, scoring the lone goal.

On Wednesday’s NWSL Match Day, the Houston Dash lost 1-0 to Gotham. Sophie Schmidt had the start and played 84 minutes and Allysha Chapman was unavailable as she remains on maternity leave. Kailen Sheridan kept the clean sheet for San Diego Wave in a 2-0 win over the Utah Royals. The Canadian Clash of the Seattle Reign vs Kansas City Current was ultimately uneventful, ending 0-0. Jordyn Huitema and Quinn were unavailable for the Reign due to injury. For the Current, Nichelle Prince was not in the match day squad and Desiree Scott was an unused substitute.

Moving to the weekend matches, on Friday, Gabrielle Carle had the start for the Washington Spirit. Carle played the full 90 for the Spirit in their 2-1 win over Racing Louisville. On Saturday, Lysianne Proulx served as the backup keeper for the Bay FC in their 1-0 loss to the Orlando Pride.

The first Cascadia Clash of the season took place on Saturday, with the Portland Thorns defeating the Seattle Reign 4-0. Jessie Fleming and Christine Sinclair had the start for the Thorns, both playing 61 minutes and Janine Beckie came on in the 61st minute. Huitema and Quinn were again unavailable for the Reign. The win marked the first time the Thorns have won 5 games in a row.

On Sunday, Nichelle Prince made her Kansas City Current debut, her first appearance for club or country since her injury in the Gold Cup in February. Prince came on in the 60th minute for the Current in their 1-0 win over the North Carolina Courage. Desiree Scott was an unused substitute for the Current and Bianca St-Georges came on in the 68th minute for the Courage. Sydney Collins was unavailable due to injury.

The Houston Dash won just their second game of the season with a 1-0 win over Angel City. For the Dash, Sophie Schmidt played 50 minutes and Allysha Chapman was unavailable as she remains on maternity leave. For Angel City, Megan Reid had the start and played the full game.

Annabelle Chukwu came on for NDC Ontario in the 46 minute and scored two goals for their 3-1 win over FC London. Jeneva Hernandez-Grey played 61 minutes for the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy and had two goals in their 5-0 win over Harbourside FC.

Emma Regan had the start and played the full 90 for HB Køge in their 2-0 win over Brøndby IF.

On Sunday, Manchester United won 4-0 against the Tottenham Hotspurs in the FA Cup Final. Jayde Riviere had the start and played 78 minutes for United.

Marie Alidou came on in the 78th minute for Benfica in their 2-1 win over Racing Almada. Olivia Smith had the start and played the full game for Sporting CP in their 2-0 win over Damaiense. Melissa Dagenais was in net for Damaiense. Benfica’s win ensured they finished the season with 56 points, two ahead of Sporting CP, winning the league. Congratulations to Alidou!
