Canada – League1 BC and League1 Ontario
On the west coast, Jeneva Hernandez-Gray scored one goal in 81 minutes for the Vancouver Whitecaps Elite in a 2-0 win over TSS Rovers. In Ontario, Annabelle Chukwu played the second half for NDC Ontario in a 1-0 win against Vaughan Azzurri.
Sweden – Damallsvenskan
Once again, Clarissa Larisey earned the start for BK Häcken. She scored one goal in 62 minutes for her team in a 2-0 win over Trelleborgs FF.
USA – NWSL
In the midweek fixtures, Kailen Sheridan was in net for the San Diego Wave as they lost 2-1 to Gotham FC. Sheridan later earned the clean sheet against the Houston Dash in a scoreless draw. On the other side of that fixture, Sophie Schmidt played the full match for Houston. Allysha Chapman was available off the bench for the first time since playing in last year’s World Cup, but was an unused substitute.
Megan Reid played the full 90 in both of Angel City’s matches this week: a 3-2 win against Racing Louisville, and a 1-0 loss to Bay FC. In the latter, Lysianne Proulx was on the bench for the Bay.
Sunday was a busy day for the NWSL. First up, the Portland Thorns suffered a lopsided defeat—4-1—at home against the Kansas City Current. Janine Beckie and Jessie Fleming both started for the Thorns before being subbed off during the half-time break. Christine Sinclair entered in the 69th minute; on the other side, Desiree Scott made a brief cameo for KCC, entering at 90+4. Nichelle Prince was once again listed as unavailable due to her injury.
Gabrielle Carle started for Washington Spirit against Gotham FC, a welcome sight after she left their last match early due to a head injury. She played the full 90 in their 2-0 win. In Seattle, both Jordyn Huitema and Quinn started for the Reign against Louisville. Huitema won the penalty kick that led to the Reign’s first goal and played the full match in the 1-1 draw; Quinn played 86 minutes. Finally, Bianca St-Georges entered in the 71st minute for the North Carolina Courage in a 3-1 win over her former team, the Chicago Red Stars. St-Georges earned the assist on the last goal of the match.
Sydney Collins, like Prince, was unavailable for selection due to injury. With their lack of minutes this season, it has to be questioned whether either of them will be fit enough for Priestman’s Olympic squad.
Player of the Week: Quinn
Goals: 2 (Hernandez-Gray x 1, Larisey x 1)
