Canada
The roster for the U20 Women’s World Cup was announced with Olivia Smith, Annabelle Chukwu, and Jeneva Hernandez-Gray being called up. Canada will be in Group B with France, Brazil, and Fiji – their first game will be on Saturday August 31.
NWSL
While on break from the regular season for the Olympics, NWSL clubs took part in various international friendlies and tournaments this summer. In the Summer Cup semi-finals, Megan Reid had the start for Angel City in their 1-0 loss to Gotham FC. The North Carolina Courage lost 2-0 to the Kansas City Current; both Bianca St-Georges and Sydney Collins remained unavailable due to injuries for the Courage. The NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup Final will be held on October 25th.
The Kansas City Current also participated in the Women’s Cup Tournament this summer. In their first game, which acted as the semi-final in the four-team tournament, the Current won 3-0 over the Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies. Nichelle Prince played the final 33 minutes and Desiree Scott was not available. In the final, Kansas City Current won 1-0 over Aletico Madrid. Nichelle Prince came on in the 72nd minute and Desiree Scott was an unused sub.
This month it was announced that Cloé Lacasse made the move from Arsenal to the Utah Royals. She was not available for her new team in the Summer Soccer Showcase against Crystal Palace – the Royals won 1-0.

In a club friendly, the Washington Spirit lost 2-1 to Arsenal. Gabby Carle had the started and played the full 90 for the Spirit.
Angel City would come away with a 7-0 win their club friendly over Juárez. Megan Reid played the full game and scored her first professional goal in the third minute.
League 1
In the Inter-Provincial Women’s Championship semi-finals, Annabelle Chukwu was unavailable for NDC Ontario in their 1-1 draw with CS Mont-Royal Outremont. The game would go straight to penalties which saw NDC Ontario fall 4:5. In the third-place game, Chukwu was once again unavailable for NDC Ontario in their 1-0 win over the Calgary Blizzard.
Jeneva Hernandez Gray had the start for the Whitecaps in their 2-0 win over the Calgary Blizzard in their semi-final matchup. In the final, the Whitecaps would defeat CS Mont-Royal Outremont 3:2 on penalty kicks after the game ended 2-2. Hernandez Gray entered in the 66th minute and converted her penalty.

The Whitecaps faced off against the Alianza Women FC for the last spot in the CONCACAF W Champions Cup Group Stage. Jeneva Hernandez-Gray played the full game in the 1-0 win. The Whitecaps will be in the same group as the Portland Thorns (Christine Sinclair, Jessie Fleming, and Janine Beckie), the San Diego Wave (Kailen Sheridan), Club América, and Santa Fé FC. The Whitecaps will host the Thorns and the Wave at BC Place.
Kvindeligaen
The Kvindeligaen season also kicked off, Emma Regan had the start and scored one goal for BH Køge in their 3-0 win over B 93. On August 19th, Regan would play the full 90 for HB Køge in their 2-1 loss to FC Nordsjælland.
Liga BPI
Marie Alidou’s Benfica took part in the Algarve Women’s Trophy tournament. In the first game, Alidou had the start for Benfica in their 4-3 win over Sevilla FC. Later in the week, Alidou came off the bench and scored one goal in their 3-1 win over Sporting CP.

There was a Canadian Clash in the semi-final of the Supertaça de Portugal de Futebol Feminino. Marie Alidou’s Benfica drew Melissa Dagenai’s Damaiense 1-1; Alidou played the full 90 and Dagenais was in net for the second half. Benfica won 3:1 on penalties, with Alidou converting hers.
NCAA
Simi Awujo has announced her decision to forego her final year of college eligibility to turn pro, making the move from USC to Manchester United.
Anna Karpenko was in net for the second half for Georgetown in their 0-0 draw with Vanderbilt.
Annabelle Chukwu had the start for Notre Dame’s game against Michigan. Chukwu played 76 minutes and score her first collegiate goal in the 2-1 loss. Against Samford, Chukwu played 62 minutes and had an assist in the 6-0 win.

Laurence Gladu was in net for the USC Trojans in their 2-2 draw with New Mexico State. Then, in their game against California Baptist, Gladu kept the clean sheet in their 1-0 win
WSL
Chelsea travelled to the USA to play a club friendly against Gotham FC. Ashley Lawrence played the second half and Kadeisha Buchanan played the final 24 minutes in the 3-1 win.
