There were three transfers to note:

  • Janine Beckie was traded from the Portland Thorns to Racing Louisville.
  • Cloé Lacasse arrived in Utah after the signing was announced last week.
  • Lysianne Proulx moved from Bay FC back to Europe, signing with Juventus.

CONCACAF

Group play for the inaugural CONCACAF W Champions Cup kicked off this past week. Kailen Sheridan played in net for the San Diego Wave in their 2-0 win over Santa Fe. Jeneva Hernandez Gray played the full match for Vancouver Whitecaps in their first match, losing 7-0 in a lopsided result to América.

Denmark – Kvindeligaen

Emma Regan played the full match for HB Køge in a narrow 1-0 loss to Brøndby IF.

England – Friendlies

Sabrina D’Angelo and Adriana Leon both played for Aston Villa in a pre-season 1-0 win over Real Betis. D’Angelo played the second half, and Leon entered in the 71st minute before scoring the lone goal of the match.

In their second match in the USA, Chelsea won 1-0 over Arsenal in their friendly. Kadeisha Buchanan and Ashley Lawrence both earned the start, playing 64 and 45 minutes respectively.

Italy – French Cup

Evelyne Viens entered in the 61st minute for AS Roma in the Women’s French Cup semi-final against PSV Vrouwen. Roma won 3-2 to advance to the final. Viens started in the final, providing an assist in 54 minutes on the pitch. Viens and Roma won the match 2-1.

Portugal – Supertaça de Portugal de Futebol Feminino

This week, the third-place match and final were held in the above tournament. Melissa Dagenais started in net for Damaiense as they won 2-1 over Racing Power to capture third place. In the final, Marie Alidou entered in the 88th minute for Benfica as they lost 2-1 to Sporting CP.

Sweden – Damallsvenskan

Clarissa Larisey saw action in both of BK Häcken’s matches this week. She came off the bench in both games (65th and 41st minutes, respectively). BK Häcken won an important match against Hammarby IF 2-1 before losing to league leaders FC Rosengård 1-0.

USA – Collegiate System

Anna Karpenko played the first half for Georgetown in their 5-0 win over Quinnipiac. In their second match of the week against Sacred Heart, Karpenko played the second half in a 2-0 win. Laurence Gladu continued to play strongly for USC, playing the full match in a 3-1 win over Pepperdine. Finally, Jade Rose played the full match for Harvard in a 1-0 win over Marshall. Annabelle Chukwu was unavailable for Notre Dame this week as she was on international duty.

USA – NWSL

The NWSL regular season resumed play after the Olympic break. The Houston Dash started off the weekend with a 1-0 loss to Orlando. Sophie Schmidt played the full match whereas Allysha Chapman was an unused substitute. In the Utah v Bay match, Cloé Lacasse made her NWSL debut as she appeared off the bench in the 61st minute. Utah won the match 2-1. On the other side, Proulx was excused for the Bay, likely due to her transfer that occurred a few days later.

Christine Sinclair and Jessie Fleming both started for the Portland Thorns in their 2-0 loss to Gotham FC. Sinclair played 56 minutes and Fleming played 78. After winning their CONCACAF match earlier in the week, San Diego lost 2-1 to Angel City. Sheridan was once again in net for the Wave, and Megan Reid played the full match for Angel City. In the last match on Saturday, Grosso and Beckie made their debuts for their new club: Grosso started for the Chicago Red Stars and Beckie appeared off the bench in the 69th minute for Louisville. Louisville won the match 3-1.

Kansas City and Washington faced off in a battle near the top of the league table. Washington won the game in convincing fashion by a 4-1 scoreline. Gabrielle Carle entered in the 65th minute for Washington and earned the assist on their fourth goal. For Kansas City, Nichelle Prince entered in the 64th minute and Desiree Scott was an unused substitute.

Finally, Seattle beat North Carolina 1-0 with a late winner. Jordyn Huitema played 89 minutes for Seattle whilst Quinn played the entire match. For North Carolina, both Sydney Collins and Bianca St-Georges were unavailable due to their injuries.
