Canada

For the first time since 2014, the U20 team advanced to the knockout round of the U20 World Cup. The team had a tough opponent as they faced the previous winners, Spain. Canada opened the scoring in the 63rd minute, but unfortunately minutes later Spain would equalize. Spain would score again in the 81st minute and Canada fell 2-1 against the reigning champs. Jeneva Hernandez Gray and Olivia Smith both played the full 90 minutes and Annabelle Chukwu came on in the 57th minute.

It was announced Tuesday that the senior team would play a friendly against Spain in Spain this upcoming FIFA window. The game will be on Friday October 25th at 11:45am PT/2:45pm ET.


America – NWSL

Bianca St-Georges played 57 minutes for the North Carolina Courage in their 1-1 draw with Bay FC. Sydney Collins remained unavailable for the Courage due to her ankle injury.

The Kansas City Current drew the Orlando Pride 0-0. Nichelle Prince played 61 minutes, and Desiree Scott played the final 7.

The Portland Thorns lost 1-0 to the Chicago Red Stars. This is the fourth loss in a row for the Thorns, a first for the team who has been in the league since the beginning. Julia Grosso played the full 90 for the Red Stars, and Christine Sinclair played 75 minutes for the Thorns. Jessie Fleming would play the final 15. When asked about Fleming’s lack of playing time as of late, head coach Rob Gale said they are working with her to get her ready after a mentally exhausting Olympics and there will be “opportunities for her to come in and play”.

Racing Louisville came from behind to defeat Angel City 2-1. Janine Beckie played the full 90 and had the game winning goal for her new team, and Megan Reid played the final 7 minutes for Angel City.

Due to her red card from the last game. Kailen Sheridan was unavailable for San Diego’s game against the Utah Royals. San Diego would win the game 2-1. Cloé Lacasse, who played the full game, scored the lone goal for the Royals.

The Washington Spirit clinched their spot in the playoffs with a 3-0 win over the Houston Dash. Gabby Carle played the full 90 for the Spirit, and Allysha Chapman played the first 45 minutes for the Dash. Sophie Schmidt was unavailable for the Dash due to a lower leg injury.

The Seattle Reign fell 2-0 to Gotham FC on Monday, Quinn played the full 90 for the Reign and Jordyn Huitema was unavailable due to an illness.

America – NCAA

Anna Karpenko was in net for the second half for Georgetown in their 2-2 draw against the University of South Carolina. Karpenko then played 25 minutes in Georgetown’s 1-0 win over Princeton.

Jade Rose had an incredible game for Harvard in their 4-2 win over Milwaukee. Rose played 90 minutes and had the first goal for Harvard, earned the assist on the fourth, with a secondary assist on the second goal, as well. However, in Harvard’s 1-1 draw with Northwestern, Rose only played 27 minutes.

Laurence Gladu earned the clean sheet for USC in their 1-0 win against Washington.

Portugal

Marie Alidou came on in the 72nd minute for Benfica in their 4-1 win over Eestorli. Melissa Dagenais was not available for Damaiense’s 1-0 win over Albergaria.

England

Chelsea played a closed door friendly against PSV, unfortunately as no information on the game was released, we do not know if Kadeisha Buchanan or Ashely Lawrence played.

In another pre-season friendly, Jayde Riviere and Simi Awujo’s Manchester United lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspurs. No lineup information was released for United.

Olivia Smith was unavailable for Liverpool in their friendly against Everton; the game would end 1-1.

Denmark

Emma Regan played the full game for HB Køge in their 4-1 win over AGF.

Sweden

Clarissa Larisey came on in the 72nd minute for BK Häcken in their 1-0 win over IFK Norrköping.

France

Vanessa Gilles remained unavailable for Lyon due to an injury; Lyon won their friendly against KS Vllaznia Shkodêr 8-0.

Guingamp had a friendly against Nantes; unfortunately, the line-ups and result were not released.

Italy

Evelyne Viens played 63 minutes for Roma in their 1-1 draw with Sassuolo. Meanwhile, Lysianne Proulx was on the bench for Juventus in their 4-2 win over Como.
