CONCACAF W Champions Cup

Kailen Sheridan and the San Diego Wave travelled to Vancouver to play the Vancouver Whitecaps in the W Champions Cup group stage. Sheridan remained on the bench as San Diego won 2-0. Jeneva Hernandez Gray started for Vancouver, playing 83 minutes. The Portland Thorns managed to win their match against Santa Fe 2-1. Jessie Fleming and Christine Sinclair both entered the game as substitutes in the 70th and 64th minutes, respectively.

Denmark

Emma Regan played the full match for HB Køge in their 2-0 loss to FC Norsjælland.

England

This week, group stage matches kicked off for the Women’s League Cup. Deanne Rose started for Leicester City, playing 58 minutes in their 1-1 (2:1) penalty kicks loss.

Simi Awujo started her first professional match for Manchester United in their 2-0 win over Liverpool; she played 71 minutes. Jayde Riviere (Manchester United) and Olivia Smith (Liverpool) were unused substitutes. For West Ham, Shelina Zadorsky played 60 minutes in their 6-1 thrashing of Portsmouth. Finally, both Sabrina D’Angelo and Adriana Leon started for Aston Villa in their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace. D’Angelo earned the clean sheet and Leon played 73 minutes.

In regular league play, Aston Villa did not fare as well, losing 4-2 to Brighton. D’Angelo once again was in net, whereas Leon was subbed on in the 75th minute. West Ham were unable to continue their midweek momentum, losing 2-0 to Manchester City. Zadorsky played 77 minutes for West Ham. Smith played 75 minutes for Liverpool in their 3-2 win over Tottenham, earning the free kick that led to a set piece goal. Finally, Deanne Rose entered in the 72nd minute for Leicester City in their 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace.

France

Latifah Abdu started for Guingamp in their narrow 1-0 loss to Nantes. Vanessa Gilles also started for Lyon, helping them keep the clean sheet in a 4-0 win over Montpellier.

Italy

In Serie A play, Evelyne Viens played 68 minutes for Roma in their 1-1 draw with Inter. For Juventus, Lysianne Proulx kept the clean sheet in her league debut in a 2-0 win over UC Sampdoria.

Portugal

Benfica won their game against Martímo 2-0. Marie Alidou played the entire match and scored one goal. Damaiense drew 1-1 with Racing Almada; Melissa Dagenais did not play.

Sweden

Clarissa Larisey entered in the 62nd minute for BK Häcken in their 3-1 win over Vittsjö.

USA – NCAA

Anna Karpenko did not feature for Georgetown in their 1-1 draw against Butler, but played the second half in a 3-0 win over St. John’s University. Annabelle Chukwu played 58 minutes for Notre Dame in their 3-0 victory against Syracuse. Once again putting on a good performance, Laurence Gladu earned the clean sheet for USC, helping the team win 2-0 over Oregon. Finally, Jade Rose did not feature for Harvard in their 2-1 loss to Columbia; she has not played for a few weeks now.

USA – NWSL

The Houston Dash were officially eliminated from playoff contention with a 2-0 loss to Chicago. Allysha Chapman played the full match for the Dash, and Sophie Schmidt entered in the 29th minute. This was the first match for Schmidt after the announcement that she has signed a new two-year contract with the Dash. For Chicago, Julia Grosso played practically the entire match, subbing off in the 90th minute, just before stoppage time. Seattle’s woes continued as they lost 1-0 to Angel City, who were looking to pick up points after a point deduction issued by the league. Quinn was ruled out for the match due to a head injury, but Jordyn Huitema played 90 minutes for the Reign. For Angel City, Megan Reid played the entire match.

The North Carolina Courage clinched a playoff spot with a 2-1 victory over San Diego. Neither Sydney Collins nor Bianca St-Georges played for the Courage; Collins remains on the D45 injury list, and St-Georges was an unused substitute. For the Wave, Sheridan was in net. Kansas City won 2-0 over Louisville—Nichelle Prince entered in the 63rd minute for Kansas City, and Desiree Scott remained on the bench. For Louisville, Janine Beckie played 73 minutes.

Portland continued their losing ways with a 2-1 loss to Utah. Fleming and Sinclair played the full match for Portland, with Cloé Lacasse doing the same for Utah. Fleming won the penalty kick that led to Portland’s lone goal. In the last game of the week, Gabrielle Carle also went the distance for Washington in their 2-0 loss to the newly-crowned 2024 Shield winners, the Orlando Pride.
