NSL

The Northern Super League, Canada’s first ever professional women’s soccer league, kicked off this week. In the inaugural match, the Vancouver Rise defeated the Calgary Wild 1-0. Both Quinn and Holly Ward played the full match for the Rise, with Ward winning the penalty kick that Quinn converted to give their team the win. Samantha Chang was unavailable for the Rise.

In the second NSL game of the week, in their home opener AFC Toronto fell 1-0 to the Montréal Roses. Emma Regan, who was named captain for her team, played the full game for Toronto.

WSL

Deanne Rose was an unused substitute for Leicester City in their 5-1 loss to Arsenal. West Ham drew Manchester United 0-0; Shelina Zadorsky and Jayde Riviere played the full match for West Ham and Manchester United respectively. Simi Awujo was an unused sub for Manchester United.

Olivia Smith started and scored one goal for Liverpool in their 2-1 win, subbing out just before half time due to injury. Sabrina D’Angelo was in net for Aston Villa in their 3-2 win.

NWSL

The Utah Royals got their first win of the season via a late penalty in their 1-0 win over the Chicago Stars. For the Royals, Bianca St-Georges played 84 minutes and for the Stars, Julia Grosso played 79 minutes. Cloé Lacasse remains unavailable for the Royals due to injury.

The first game of the Cascadia Rivalry was this week and the Seattle Reign came away with the win, defeating the Portland Thorns 1-0. Jordyn Huitema played 86 minutes for the Reign and for the Thorns, Jessie Fleming played the full 90 and Mimi Alidou entered in the 78th minute.

Megan Reid was subbed on during added time for Angel City in their 4-0 loss to Gotham FC. San Diego Wave came away with a solid 4-1 win over Racing Louisville. For the Wave, Kailen Sheridan was in net and Adriana Leon played the first half. Janine Sonis entered in the 56th minute for Racing.

Gabby Carle played the full game for the Washington Spirit in their 1-0 win over the Orlando Pride. Sydney Collins remains unavailable for the North Carolina Courage due to injury; the Courage lost 1-0 to Bay FC this week. In the last NWSL game of the week, the Kansas City Current defeated the Houston Dash 2-0. Nichelle Prince played 70 minutes for the Current and Allysha Chapman was unavailable for the Dash due to a wrist injury.

UWCL

The first leg of the semi-finals took place this week with mixed results for the Canadians. Vanessa Gilles played the full game for Lyon in their 2-1 win over Arsenal. Chelsea fell 4-1 to Barcelona; Ashley Lawrence was an unused sub.

Damallsvenskan

Carly Wickenheiser entered in the 66th minute for BK Häcken in their 3-1 win over Växjö.

Serie A

Both Evelyn Viens and Lysianne Proulx were unavailable for their respective clubs this week. Viens’ Roma fell 3-0 to Inter and Proulx’s Juventus defeated Milan 2-0 to win the league.
