Confederation – UWCL

Lysianne Proulx was once again unavailable for Juventus as they won 5-0 against SKN St. Pölten. Olivia Smith played 58 minutes for Arsenal in their 1-0 win over FC Twente. For unknown reasons, Florianne Jourde was still not in PSG’s squad as they played to a scoreless draw against Oud-Heverlee-Leuven.

Vanessa Gilles played the full match for Bayern München in their 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid. Evelyne Viens was rested against Chelsea as her team, AS Roma, suffered a 6-0 defeat at the hands of the current English champions. Finally, OL Lyonnes defeated Manchester United 3-0, a game in which three Canadians featured. Ashley Lawrence entered in the 86th minute as a late substitute for Lyonnes. Simi Awujo and Jayde Riviere both earned the start for Man United; Awujo played the first half, and Riviere the full match.

England

In WSL play, Aston Villa had two matches this week to make up for a game against Liverpool that was postponed. Sabrina D’Angelo was in net for the Villans for both matches: the first was a 3-0 win against Liverpool, in which she earned the clean sheet, and the second was a tough 6-1 defeat against Manchester City. For City, Jade Rose started and played the full match.

Arsenal beat Everton by a score of 3-1, with Smith scoring the third after entering as a substitute in the 63rd minute. Shelina Zadorsky was unavailable for West Ham after undergoing ankle surgery; the Hammers drew 2-2 with Liverpool. Manchester United looked to rebound from their UWCL defeat, but only managed a comeback draw with Tottenham by a score of 3-3. Awujo was an unused substitute, and Riviere played the full match.

Finally, in the third round of the FA Cup, Nottingham Forest advanced with a 2-1 win over Wolverhampton. Deanne Rose entered as a substitute in the 70th minute.

France

To kick off the weekend, Montpellier and PSG played to a 2-2 draw. Marie Levasseur played the full match for Montpellier, whereas Jourde remained unavailable for PSG. Lawrence earned the start for Lyonnes in their 7-0 routing of Le Havre; she played the full match and earned two assists. Finally, Emily Burns earned the clean sheet for Nantes in their 3-0 win over Marseille.

Germany

In league play, Gilles was rested as Bayern München comfortably beat Hamburger 6-0.

Italy

Proulx was absent for Juventus’ 2-1 win over S.S.D. Napoli. Viens started for Roma in their 2-0 win against Ternana Femminile. In her 69 minutes of play, Viens earned the assist on the first goal and helped to cause the second own goal.
