This week, it was announced that the CanWNT will participate in the SheBelieves Cup once again. The tournament will also feature Argentina, Colombia, and the United States. It begins on March 1st, and Canada opens the tournament with a match against the Colombians.

There were also several transfers announced this week:

  • Bianca St-Georges has landed at Boston Legacy in the NWSL after her departure from Utah Royals.
  • AFC Toronto announced that Sam Chang will join them for the 2026 season.
  • Kailen Sheridan’s new club will be the North Carolina Courage.
  • Janine Sonis will be moving home to play for the Denver Summit, leaving Racing Louisville.

England

The WSL and WSL2 kicked off for the first time this year. To start, Arsenal and Manchester United played to a scoreless draw. For Arsenal, Olivia Smith earned the start and played 63 minutes. For Manchester United, Jayde Riviere started but was sent off in the 65th minute due to a second yellow card. Unfortunately, the resulting tactical shifts meant that Simi Awujo only played 11 minutes, being subbed on in the 60th minute and out again in the 71st. Sabrina D’Angelo was in net for Aston Villa in their 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Brighton. Still recovering from surgery, Shelina Zadorsky was unavailable for West Ham in their 5-0 loss to Chelsea. Jade Rose and Manchester City were victorious, winning 2-0 against Everton. J. Rose played the full match.

In WSL2, Deanne Rose scored her first goal of the season for Nottingham Forest, playing 64 minutes in their 4-2 loss against Bristol City.

France

Ashley Lawrence was unavailable for OL Lyonnes in their 6-0 Coupe de France win over Saint-Étienne. For Montpellier, Marie Levasseur started the match as they won 2-1 over Sarcelles in the same tournament. Emily Burns was rested for Nantes as they beat Bergerac 9-0. Finally, Florianne Jourde entered in the 76th minute for PSG and scored a goal in their 2-0 win over Lille. As it stands, all Canadians have advanced to the next round of the Coupe de France.

Italy

This weekend, it was the final of the Italian Women’s Super Cup. Juventus won 2-1 over Roma. Lysianne Proulx remained unavailable for Juventus, and Evelyne Viens played 85 minutes for Roma, earning the assist on their lone goal.
