National Team
Canada placed second in the FIFA Series, winning against Zambia and South Korea and losing to Brazil in the final match. Against Zambia, Canada won 4-0 with Sabrina D’Angelo earning the clean sheet and Nichelle Prince and Annabelle Chukwu both coming away with braces. DB Pridham earned the assist on Prince’s first goal, and Olivia Smith and Janine Sonis had the assists for Chukwu’s goals.
Canada won 3-1 against South Korea; Evelyne Viens scored off a Cloé Lacasse assist, and Vanessa Gilles had a brace off two set pieces (are we surprised?) from Jessie Fleming and Sonis. Jade Rose earned a straight red card in the 27th minute for DOGSO, giving a free kick to South Korea at the top of the box, which they used to score. Canada lost 1-0 to Brazil, the lone goal coming off a foul against Viens that was not called.
The U20s won both of their games against Costa Rica. Noelle Henning was not available for the first game, a 3-0 win, and started the second game in net in a 3-1 win.
France
Florianne Jourde played the full game for PSG in a 3-0 win against Saint-Etienne. Emily Burns earned the clean sheet for Nantes in their 2-0 win over Marseille. Montpellier lost 2-0 to Paris FC, in which Marie Levassuer played the full game. Ashley Lawrence played the second half for Lyonnes in their 4-0 win over Dijon Foot.
On the weekend, Jourde entered in the final minutes for PSG in their 2-0 win over Fleury Merogis. Montpellier came away with an important 1-0 win over Saint-Etienne; Levasseur played the full game.
Italy
Viens played 82 minutes for Roma in their 1-0 win over Juventus.
Canada
AFC Toronto got their payback, winning 3-2 against the Vancouver Rise in the NSL season opener. Kaylee Hunter played the full game for Toronto, and Latifah Abdu played the full game and had one goal for Vancouver. Pridham played the full game, and Melissa Dagenais was in net for Ottawa in their 3-1 loss to the Halifax Tides.
Confederation
Bayern München drew Barcelona 1-1 in the first leg of the UWCL Semi-Finals; Gilles played the full game for Bayern. In the Canadian Clash, Arsenal beat Lyonnes 2-1, with Smith scoring the winning goal. For Arsenal, Smith played 84 minutes and for Lyonnes, Lawrence played the full game.
Germany
Gilles was not in the game-day squad for Bayern München in their 3-2 win over Union Berlin, a result that guaranteed Bayern’s league championship with three games to go.
England
In the WSL, Rose played the full game for Manchester City in a tough 3-2 loss to Brighton. Kadeisha Buchanan entered in the 61st minute for Chelsea in their 3-1 win over Everton. Manchester United drew 0-0 with Tottenham Hotspur; Jayde Riviere played the full game, and Simi Awujo played the first half. Shelina Zadorsky was an unused substitute for West Ham in their 1-0 win over Liverpool.
In WSL2 action, Lysianne Proulx was on the bench for Ipswich Town in their 4-1 win over Sheffield United. Proulx then made her WSL2 debut on Sunday and kept the clean sheet for Ipswich in their 3-0 win over Birmingham City.
USA
Zara Chavoshi was unavailable for the Orlando Pride due to injury; the Pride lost 3-2 to Racing Louisville. Gabby Carle was an unused substitute for the Washington Spirit in their 4-0 win over KC Current. Bay FC lost 3-0 to Gotham this week. Sydney Collins played the full game, and Brooklyn Courtnall entered in the 62nd minute.
The Chicago Stars beat Boston Legacy 2-0 this week. For Chicago, Jordyn Huitema played 72 minutes and scored the opening goal, and Julia Grosso played the full game. For Boston, Prince played 59 minutes, and Bianca St-Georges played the full game.
Sheridan earned the clean sheet for the Courage in their 1-0 win. Carly Wickenheiser entered in the 80th minute for the Courage. The Denver Summit lost to the San Diego Wave 3-2. Sonis played the full game, Megan Reid played 72 minutes, and Emma Regan played the final 18 minutes.
The Portland Thorns defeated Angel City 2-1. Fleming played the full game, and Mimi Alidou entered in the 60th minute and earned the assist on the game-winning goal. In the final match of the week, the Utah Royals beat the Seattle Reign 3-0. For the Royals, Lacasse played the full game and had one goal, and for the Reign, Holly Ward was an unused substitute.
