The U20 Women’s World Cup roster was revealed this week, with Annabelle Chukwu and Kaylee Hunter earning the call-up. The tournament, which will be held in Poland this year, runs September 5-27. Canada will play its first game against England on Saturday, September 5th at 9:00 am PST/12:00 pm EST on TSN4.  

Canada will then play Brazil on Tuesday, September 8th at 6:00 am PST/9:00 am EST (on TSN5), and finish the group stage against Tanzania on Friday, September 11 at 6:00 am PST/9:00 am EST (on TSN5). 

All other games will be available to watch on TSN Premium, at a high cost for fans, unfortunately. 

Canada – NSL

Ottawa Rapid suffered a rough 5-1 loss to Vancouver Rise on the weekend; Melissa Dagenais was in net, and DB Pridham was unavailable. She was suspended after receiving two yellow cards in her last match.

AFC Toronto came away with a 2-0 win against Halifax Tides, with Sabrina D’Angelo earning her fourth clean sheet. Shelina Zadorsky and Hunter both played the full game for Toronto, with Hunter scoring the second goal from the penalty spot. 

Montréal Roses drew Calgary 2-2; Mimi Alidou played the full game and scored one goal. 

USA – NWSL

There were two mid-week games this week, with Seattle Reign facing off against Racing Louisville and the Chicago Stars travelling to Houston. Holly Ward earned a rare start for Seattle in a 2-1 loss to Racing, and both Julia Grosso and Jordyn Huitema were unavailable for the Stars in a disastrous 5-0 loss to the Dash.  

San Diego Wave won 4-2 against the Utah Royals on Saturday. For the Wave, both Adriana Leon and Brooklyn Courtnall entered in the 72nd minute. For the Royals, Cloé Lacasse started and earned an assist, subbing out in injury time. Ward remained on the bench for Seattle in their 1-1 draw with KC Current.

North Carolina Courage came away with a 2-1 win against Boston Legacy thanks to a late penalty kick. Kailen Sheridan was in net, and Carly Wickenheiser played 68 minutes for the Courage. For Boston, Nichelle Prince played the full game. 

Portland Thorns won 1-0 over Denver Summit this weekend. Jessie Fleming, who was lucky not to be sent off for a challenge against Janine Sonis, played the full game and earned the assist for the Thorns. For Denver, Sonis played the full game, and Emma Regan played 75 minutes. Megan Reid remained on the bench for the Summit once again, and one wonders if a move isn’t in her future soon. 

Grosso made her return to the Stars in the 65th minute on Sunday, scoring the winning goal in a 3-2 win over Louisville. Huitema remains unavailable due to her ACL injury.

Washington Spirit suffered another loss this weekend; this time, it was a tough 1-0 loss to the Orlando Pride. For the Spirit, Élisabeth Tsé played 61 minutes, and Gabby Carle entered in the 77th minute. Zara Chavoshi was an unused substitute for the Pride. In the last game of the weekend, Bay FC beat the Dash 1-0; Sydney Collins played the full game. 

USA – USL SL

Jordyn Listro played 71 minutes for Tampa Bay Sun in a 3-2 loss to Sporting Jax. 

USA – NCAA

Annabelle Chukwu did not feature in either of Notre Dame’s games this week. Notre Dame drew 1-1 against Nebraska and then won 3-0 against Murray State. 

Germany – Frauen-Bundesliga 

Vanessa Gilles was an unused substitute for Bayern München in a 4-1 win over Union Berlin.
