Canada U20s

Canada defeated France 3-1 in the Round of 16 at the U20 Women’s World Cup. Kaylee Hunter, who played 87 minutes, scored all three goals for Canada, becoming the first player in the last four editions of this tournament to score three goals in a knockout match. Annabelle Chukwu also played 87 minutes for Canada. 

Canada faced reigning U20 World Cup Champions DPR Korea in the Quarter-Finals. Kaylee Hunter had the start, and Annabelle Chukwu entered at half time. Despite keeping the scoreline 0-0 for most of the game, Canada lost 2-0 due to two late injury-time goals and bowed out of the tournament.

NSL

Sabrina D’Angelo and Shelina Zadorsky both played the full game for AFC Toronto in their 1-1 draw with Halifax Tides. Kaylee Hunter was unavailable for her club team as she remained with the U20S at the World Cup. 

Montréal Roses scored late to tie Vancouver Rise 2-2; Mimi Alidou played the full game. Ottawa Rapid jumped to second place in the standings thanks to a 3-1 win over Calgary Wild. DB Pridham, who returned from injury, entered in the 77th minute for the Rapid; Melissa Dagenais served as backup keeper. The results this weekend confirm Montréal’s qualification in the NSL Championship Quarter-Finals.

NWSL/NCAA/USL-SL

In a weekday matchup, Denver Summit and Bay FC drew 2-2. Janine Sonis, Emma Regan, and Megan Reid all played the full game for Summit, with Sonis scoring her 11th goal of the season. Unfortunately, Sydney Collins was absent for Bay FC due to illness. Then Seattle Reign fell 3-1 to Angel City; Holly Ward continued to struggle for minutes, and she played only the final 11 minutes for the Reign. 

Brooklyn Courtnall played the final 10 minutes for San Diego Wave in their 2-0 win over Kansas City Current. Adriana Leon was unavailable for the Wave due to a hip injury. Portland Thorns came away with an important 4-1 win over Orlando Pride to help keep them in the home play-off contention. Jessie Fleming played the full game for the Thorns, and Zara Chavoshi was unavailable for the Pride. Kailen Sheridan was in net for North Carolina Courage in their 2-1 loss to Gotham FC. Carly Wickenheiser entered in the 70thminute for the Courage.

Denver Summit and Seattle Reign then faced off in their second game of the week. Denver defeated Seattle 2-1, with Janine Sonis earning the assist on the eventual game-winner. For Denver, Sonis played the full game, Regan played 84 minutes, and Reid remained on the bench. Ward was once again a late substitute for Seattle, this time entering in the 89th minute. 

Boston Legacy fell 2-1 to Houston Dash; Nichelle Prince played 66 minutes. Washington Spirit bounced back from their loss last week to defeat Chicago Stars 3-0. Gabby Carle played the full game for Washington, and Julia Grosso played the full game for Chicago. Neither Élisabeth Tsé nor Jordyn Huitema were available for their respective teams. 

Bay FC came away with a 2-0 win over Racing Louisville; Collins played 84 minutes. In the final NWSL match of the week, the Utah Royals fell 3-0 to Angel City FC. Cloé Lacasse, who just re-signed with the Royals until 2028, played 62 minutes.

Notre Dame defeated Boston College 4-0; Annabelle Chukwu was, of course, unavailable as she remained with the Canada U20S. In USL-SL play, Jordyn Listro played the full game and earned the assist for Tampa Bay Sun in their 1-1 draw. 

WSL

Manchester City came from behind to defeat Liverpool 4-2; Jade Rose played the full game. In the first Canadian Clash, Chelsea beat Birmingham City 2-0. Kadeisha Buchanan played 87 minutes for Chelsea and Marie Levasseur played the full game for Birmingham.

Canadians faced off against each other again, with Arsenal drawing Manchester United 1-1. Olivia Smith played 57 minutes for Arsenal, and Simi Awujo played 52 minutes for United. Jayde Riviere was unavailable for United. 

Premiere Ligue

Ashley Lawrence played the full game and earned one assist for OL Lyonnes in their 8-1 win over Le Havre. Evelyne Viens played 78 minutes for Paris FC, and also earned an assist in Paris FC’s 2-0 win over Strasbourg.

Florianne Jourde played the full game for PSG in their 1-0 win. Emily Burns kept her second clean sheet of the season for Marseille in their 0-0 draw with Montpellier. 

Frauen-Bundesliga

Vanessa Gilles’ scoring streak came to an end on Saturday, as she played only the first half for Bayern München in their 5-2 win over FC Köln.
