Adriana Leon has made the move back to the NWSL this month, signing with the San Diego Wave until 2026 with an option for 2027.

It was the first camp under new coach Casey Stoney and the team came away with a trophy, winning the Pinatar Cup with 7 points and a +9 goal difference. The team kicked off the tournament with a 1-1 draw against China; Julia Grosso scored Canada’s goal off of a Gabby Carle assist. Ella Ottey and Carly Wickenheiser were given their first caps, and Vanessa Gilles captained the team in the absence of Jessie Fleming, who was rested.

Canada beat Mexico 2-0, with Gilles (Jordyn Huitema) and Adriana Leon (Evelyne Viens) scoring the goals. The game marked Gilles’ 50th cap and Kailen Sheridan’s 30th clean sheet for Canada.

It was a game of firsts for Canada in their 7-0 win over Chinese Taipei. Lysianne Proulx earned her first start, Marie Alidou scored her fist career hat trick, and Megan Reid scored her first international goal and earned her first assist. Huitema scored twice and Clarissa Larisey scored the seventh goal, with Nichelle Prince and Jayde Riviere all earning assists.

Jeneva Hernandez Gray and Janet Okeke were in action this week with the Canada U20s as they looked to qualify for the CONCACAF Championship. Canada topped their group with 9 points and +43 goals, earning their spot in the 2025 CONCACAF U20 Championship in May.

In their first game, the team defeated Dominica 22-0. Hernandez Gray played 45 minutes and had one assist, while Okeke played the full game. The Canada U20s then beat Bermuda 9-0; Okeke played the full game and Hernandez Gray played 63 minutes and scored two goals. The team finished off the tournament with a 9-0 win over hosts Trinidad & Tobago. Okeke played 64 minutes and Hernandez Gray played 72 minutes, earning three assists and scoring one goal.

DIV 1

Back in club action on Saturday March 1st, Gilles played 86 minutes for Lyon in their 4-0 win over Strasbourg.

Liga BPI

Hernandez Gray played the final 8 minutes for Sporting in their 2-0 win over Damaiense. Alidou played 61 minutes and had an assist in Benfica’s 6-0 win over Vilaverdense.

WSL

Neither Simi Awujo nor Jayde Riviere were available for Manchester United in their 2-0 win over Leicester City. Deanne Rose was an unused substitute for Leicester.

Sabrina D’Angelo started in net for Aston Villa, subbing out in the 54th minute due to injury. Aston Villa lost the game 2-0 to Everton. Clarissa Larisey played the full game for Crystal Palace in their 1-0 loss to Liverpool, while Olivia Smith played the full game for Liverpool.

Ashley Lawrence played the final nine minutes for Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Brighton; Kadeisha Buchanan remains unavailable for Chelsea due to injury. Shelina Zadorsky entered in the 64th minute for West Ham’s 4-3 loss to Arsenal.

Serie A

In the Canadian Clash, Proulx’s Juventus defeated Viens’ Roma 4-3. Proulx served as back up keeper and Viens played 60 minutes and scored one goal.

Carly Wickenheiser played the full game for BK Häcken in their 7-1 win over Vittsjö GIK in their first game of the Svenska Cupen.
