Canada – NSL
Mimi Alidou played the full game for the Montréal Roses in a 1-0 loss to Halifax Tides. AFC Toronto and Ottawa Rapid drew 2-2 this week. DB Pridham and Melissa Dagenais both played the full game for Ottawa. For Toronto, Kaylee Hunter played 66 minutes while Shelina Zadorsky and Sabrina D’Angelo played the full game, with Zadorsky scoring her first goal for her new team.
USA – NWSL
It was a mixed bag of playing time and contributions this week, as NWSL players are either getting regular playing time and contributing to their club team or have been relegated to bench players. If Casey Stoney is serious about players needing to play, questions will need to be asked if certain players are called up in October.
In their first game of the week, North Carolina Courage defeated Denver Summit 2-0. Kailen Sheridan kept the clean sheet for the Courage and Carly Wickenheiser entered in the 79th minute. For Denver, Janine Sonis played the full game and Emma Regan played the final 22 minutes while Megan Reid was once again an unused substitute. Orlando Pride continues to struggle this season, losing 1-0 to Racing Louisville; Zara Chavoshi played the full game. San Diego Wave fell 1-0 to Gotham FC; Adriana Leon entered the match in the 66th minute, and Brooklyn Courtnall remained on the bench.
In their second game of the week, the North Carolina Courage eked out a 4-3 win over Washington Spirit. Sheridan was in net, and Wickenheiser played the final 30 minutes. For the Spirit, Gabby Carle played 80 minutes, and Élisabeth Tsé played the first half.
Sonis continues to prove her importance to Denver, helping her team with a 2-1 win over Utah Royals. Sonis played the full game, earning the assist and scoring the game-winner off a free kick in injury time. Regan entered the match in added time while Reid was an unused substitute for the third game in a row.
Portland Thorns narrowly defeated Boston Legacy 4-3 this week after being up by three goals in the first ten minutes. For Portland, Jessie Fleming played the full game and had an assist on the third goal and for Boston, Nichelle Prince went the full 90.
Chicago Stars and Bay FC played to a scoreless draw on Sunday. Neither Jordyn Huitema nor Julia Grosso were available for Chicago due to injuries, while Sydney Collins played the last 30 minutes for Bay FC. Holly Ward continues to struggle to find playing time in the NWSL as she saw only the final 2 minutes for Seattle Reign in their 2-2 draw with Angel City.
